Phone Calling, Canvassing, Data Entry, and other office support needed NOW!

Everyday at an office near you!

Shifts available for volunteers who want to help with the unprecented amount of work the Coordinated Campaign is doing in York County.  Reach out to every Deomcrat and Unenrolled voter by phone or door-to-door canvassing to confirm our candidates' supporters so we can win in November!  Please be part of this important effort.  YOU can make a difference!

Want to go door-to-door?

Every Saturday we will be going door-to-door visiting Democratic supporters and Unenrolled voters to ensure that our candidates have their support.  It's a great opportunity to get outside for a nice walk in local communities and meet your neighbours.  See our online calendar for upcoming canvassing events or contact Lydia Blume at the Seacoast Democrats Office (see below).

Not interested in door-to-door?

We will be phone canvassing in 2 hours shifts.  Survey local Democratic and Unenrolled voters about their current position on the candidates.

Monday - Thursday 10am-8pm

Friday 10am-6pm

Saturday 1-4

How about joining your local office's Lick'em Stick'em and Stuff'em Club!  Meet once a week to stuff and stamp envelopes for local candidates and/or enter data in our database.  Kids welcome!  Every Wednesday 5:00-8:00pm.

Many other opportunities as well.  Please donate you time!  We must win!  And we will with YOUR help!

Spring Seacoast Dems Meeting and Pot Luck - speaker Sam Spencer

Sam Spencer
On April 12 we will host the Spring Seacoast Democratic Meeting and Pot luck.  Our speaker at this meeting is Sam Spencer.  He will discuss a national topic; What to do as a Superdelegate to the Democratic National Convention.  He is one of Maine's uncommitted superdelegates. www.samspencer.org

Sam grew up in Standish and in Portland. He served on President Clinton’s White House staff and was a Special Assistant to Vice President Al Gore.

Sam was elected to the Democratic National Committee in May of 2004.

From 4:00 - 4:30pm, the York Democratic Town Committee will meet.

See you there!

***

From the Desk of the York Democratic Town Chair:

It is not easy to get Democrats to attend a meeting 7 months before a national election. Most of us have tuned out Chris Mathews and are paying little attention to the presidential race..at least until Pennsylvania has weighed in. Time with our families and friends, chores, rest and relaxation all compete for precious Saturday afternoon hours.

Praise once again to Lydia Blume who in the midst of starting a new job with the coordinated campaign; organized us, enisted super delegate Sam Spencer to be our special guest and inspired us to produce a feast of edibles.

We sat round the tables, we relaxed on sofas, we talked and we learned.
Most importantly we were reminded that we must collectively put our efforts into electing a Democratic president, US senator and Congressman as well as Democrats to Maine state government. We only have 7 months so we must work and work smart.

And let us not forget the issues that motivate us; Ending Bush’s war, universal health care and a new policy to save our precious environment.

Stop in at the Seacoast Democrats headquarters and talk with us about how you would like to help.

Seacoast Dems Gastronomic Delight
Thursday, 20 March 2008

York residents Sandell and Dick Morse hosted a culinary arts demonstration by a local gourmet chef.  His wife, a sommelier, introduced South African wines to compliment the dishes.  The event was both a "thank you" to doners and a fundraiser to ensure the ongoing financial stability of the Seacoast Democratic headquarters.

Tom Allen, who is running for a critical senate seat against Susan Collins, was the featured guest.  His impassioned speech convinced us that his win in November is essential to creating a democratic majority in the legislature and inspired us to work for his senate election.

Support Your Local Candidates In 2008
Monday, 03 March 2008
Image
Many of these candidates are running as clean elections candidates. In order to qualify for public financing these candidates  must collect a number of $5 qualifying contributions from registered voters in their district (Ds, Us or Rs) in the next month. This year the ethics commission has created a way for supporters to make those qualifying contributions on line.

Won’t you please take a few minutes to show your support for our terrific candidates by going to http://www.maine.gov/online/ethics/cleanelection and making a contribution for the democratic State Senate and House candidate in your district? Just put in your street address and all the eligible candidates from your district are then listed for you. The candidates in our towns are listed below:

Senate District 2 runs from Berwick all the way to Parsonsfield with Wells being the largest town in the district. Jim Hightower in York on March 15th
Monday, 25 February 2008

Come join humorist and provocateur Jim Hightower in support of Chellie Pingree, Democratic candidate for Congress, Maine's first Congressional District.  National radio commentator, writer, and public speaker Jim Hightower has spent three decades battling the Powers That Be on behalf of the Powers That Ought To Be - consumers, working families, environmentalists, small businesses, and just-plain-folks.

Twice elected Texas Agriculture Commissioner, Hightower believes that the true political spectrum is not right to left but top to bottom, and he has become a leading national voice for the 80 percent of the public who no longer find themselves within shouting distance of the Washington and Wall Street powers at the top.

Hightower's latest book, Swim Against The Current: Even A Dead Fish Can Go With The Flow, will be published March 10, and pre-publication reviews on Amazon.com have already rated it 4 stars (out of 5). He is a New York Times best-selling author, and has written seven books including, Thieves In High Places: They've Stolen Our Country And It's Time To Take It Back; If the Gods Had Meant Us To Vote They Would Have Given Us Candidates; and There's Nothing In the Middle Of the Road But Yellow Stripes and Dead Armadillos.

As political columnist Molly Ivins said, "If Will Rogers and Mother Jones had a baby, Jim Hightower would be that rambunctious child—mad as hell, with a sense of humor."

3:00 P.M. Saturday March 15th at Seacoast Democratic Headquarters,  Meadowbrook Plaza, #647 Route 1, York
